About Dani

I’m a strategic communications leader with a background in journalism and more than 17 years of experience shaping stories that connect people, mission, and impact. My work spans higher education, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations, where I lead editorial direction, develop content strategy, and build meaningful audience engagement across print, digital, and email platforms.

As editor-in-chief of Shidler Business Magazine, I lead the editorial vision and production of a biannual publication reaching more than 35,000 alumni and stakeholders. I oversee content strategy, guide feature development, collaborate with design, and manage the full production process from concept through print distribution.

Beyond editorial work, I develop and execute communications across channels—from high-performing email campaigns to digital storytelling and integrated initiatives like the Shidler Strong campaign, which helped generate more than $562,000 in support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based in Honolulu, I bring an island-centered perspective to my work, grounding communications in local context, cultural understanding, and community connection. I’m especially drawn to mission-driven organizations and stories that highlight resilience, innovation, and impact.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a writer and editor for organizations including Hawaii Medical Service Association and Oregon State University, where I developed a strong foundation in feature writing, storytelling, and audience-focused content.

Outside of work, I’m happiest in the ocean, practicing yoga, on a trail, or in the kitchen—drawn to the same sense of curiosity, balance, and connection that shapes my approach to storytelling.
